Hogger & Co. Style Profile: Amy of CSSpectrum

Today I'm featuring the Style Profile of the beautiful Amy from Creative Soul Spectrum aka CSSpectrum (on Twitter)!

She was the winner of this contest and it was so fun to meet her in person after the fact. Amy's a graphic designer at a children's book company in Boston and is truly a creative soul...

I've lived on the South Shore my whole life, but I started working in Boston a year and a half ago.

I think that along with many other aspects of the city, Boston is a melting pot when it comes to style and fashion. You can see a change in style when you move from one neighborhood to another, and there’s even a noticeable shift from one street to the next.

I have been blogging since March of 2011, so a year and a half!

What I love most about blogging is that it inspires me to do what I love. I have been creating art for as long as I can remember, but now that I have a place where I can share it with others, I want to do it more.

I probably wouldn’t go too far. I love the seasons of New England and being able to be close to the beach in the summertime and near the mountains in the winter. I could see myself retiring lakeside somewhere in New Hampshire.

If I could go to any fashion show, I would want to go to any Project Runway fashion show. That show inspired me to start sewing my own clothes years ago. I love the different styles among the designers and how they have to think creatively and work with unique materials.

I tend to try to cram a lot of things into my Sundays while trying to relax at the same time. So I’d have to say that an ideal Sunday would be one that went by slowly and somehow lasted at least 72 hours.

1. My family… Mom, Dad, Kelly, John, Cuda, Steven, Brendan, and Jake!

2. My friends

3. My art supplies

4.Music

5. Books

My readers may not know that I have a lot of hobbies outside of my art. I enjoy running, playing soccer, hiking, kickboxing, snowboarding, and playing guitar and piano.

I like to dress my best with whatever I see fit for the occasion. Therefore, my best is always changing. Depending on where I’m going, my best might be a feminine dress with sky-high pumps, a 90’s grunge shirt with jeans and a beat up pair of Chuck Taylors, or a winter jacket and snow pants that perfectly coordinate with my snowboard and boots.

What Amy's wearing: Dress - Nordstrom // Blazer - H&M // Shoes - ALDO // Jewelry - Forever21 // Bracelet - Custom designed gift

Amy, I had a terrific time photographing you! Thank you so much for participating in my Style Profile project and for generously donating to the Nashua Soup Kitchen!

Hogger & Co. Style Profile: Emily / Books & Liquor

Emily is one half of the creative mind behind the Harvard University street style blog Books & Liquor and I'm a huge fan (I mean, with a name like that, who wouldn't be?).

Meeting her for the first time was a treat for me. She is equal parts warm, funny and stylish!

Why don't you meet her for yourself?

I moved down to Boston a little more than 4 years ago to go to college. I've fallen so in love with this city that I've decided to stick around, and am now working and living here, even though I've graduated.

Eclectic.

I've been a blogger since 2010. So, two years now!

I photograph for a street style blog, which involves stopping random interesting-looking strangers on the street. I've met and spoken with a lot of cool people this way. This is definitely my favorite thing about operating my blog.

I am secretly the best Age of Empires II gamer within a 200 mile radius.

I'm too at home in Cambridge---how could I ever move? :-)

Lazy.

1. Coffee

2. Sympathy

3. Dumplings

4. My camera

5. Smiling

I am still living and working in the Cambridge area, so I will definitely keep the blog updated.

If it's not comfortable, it's not worth it!

What Emily's wearing: bright orange blazer - Zara // Pants - Urban Outfitters // Coach purse - Vintage // Watch - Citizen // Scarf - Vintage Sarah Coventry // Shoes - Vintage // Shirt - Anthropologie

Emily, it was so lovely to finally meet you! Thank you so much for participating and for generously donating to the Nashua Soup Kitchen!

Hogger & Co. Style Profile: Anne Keane (Adjewelry)

I still remember following Anne on Twitter and Instagram and then realizing, when I was at the SOWA market one day, that she would be there and I could meet her in real life!

Anne has an infectious smile and her jewelry design and craftmanship are impeccable. I had purchased a beautiful bracelet from her at SOWA that day for my niece's birthday (she loved it!) and was ecstatic when Anne allowed me to cover her for a Style Profile for Nashua Soup Kitchen.

Check out her beautiful work and get personal with her, right now.

It's been ten fantastic years. I still feel like I am discovering the city.

I started blogging back in 2010 as a way to collect and share my inspirations, thoughts and travels. Now, I tend to spend more time on Instagram and Pinterest.

I started my business before I was married, and my initials then were AD. I never changed it to AK.

I have been making jewelry for what seems like forever, but only got serious about it a few years ago. Now it's all I think about! When I am not working my day job, I love spending time hunting for new supplies, designing and creating.

Where we spent our honeymoon - Costa Rica!

That I am a crazy Boston Bruins fan. I wear a foam bear paw when I watch the games on TV, and during the playoffs I also wear a vintage Bruins sweatshirt. Pretty sure my neighbors think someone is being murdered from all of my screaming during the games!

My husband, a good morning workout, my vintage jewelry collection, Etsy (it's my favorite one-stop-shop!), and lastly, I would have to say my iPhone. Totally addicted to that thing!

It would start with an early morning bike ride along the beach, a nice big brunch in the South End followed by a shopping trip to SoWa Market (yes I love to shop there when I am not selling my jewelry!). I would finish the day out with a grilled dinner and a beer on the deck and some Sunday night drama TV.

With my jewelry, I like to mix textures and colors, sourcing vintage and new components. My personal style is the same.

What Anne's wearing: Clothes - Anthropologie  // Yellow/Black sandals - H&M // Black sandals - Forever 21 // Jewelry - her own + vintage + Anthropologie

Thank you Anne for participating and generously donating to the Nashua Soup Kitchen!

Hogger & Co. Style Profile for Nashua Soup Kitchen

I'm launching a new initiative for Hogger & Co.'s Style Profile.

For my birthday in July, I've decided to sponsor a lunch at Nashua Soup Kitchen, which will take place on July 15 2012.

I am donating photo sessions with me in exchange of groceries needed by the soup kitchen.

I've been overwhelmed by the response from participants in Boston and Toronto! Since introducing this initiative a week ago, ALL of the time slots have already been filled!

Thank you to everyone who has participated and donated this round! The NSK will surely appreciate it.

Watch this space for the Style Profiles coming soon!

Hogger & Co. Style Profile: Dave Chen

I'm so excited to be introducing a new series on Hogger & Co., called "Style Profile" which will feature some of the incredibly talented and creative people I've had the pleasure of meeting in Boston and around the world.

Ecstatic to be starting off the series with Neiman Marcus Style Advisor:

While I only assumed the newly established role of Style Advisor within Neiman Marcus last year, I've been styling clients for their wardrobe needs for years.

Before that I was a YSL specialist and Valentino Specialist and have been at Neiman Marcus since 2008.

9 years and was in Honolulu before that for 7 years.

I think Boston is a cultured city of tradition and history and that
reflects on it's citizen's fashion sensibility. There is a great
appreciation for quality, craftsmanship, and timelessness. And with the
constant infusion of students from the world over, Bostonians also love
to embrace new ideas and fashion directions.

I went to Boston University and majored in marketing.

I train with Ken Downing, our corporate Fashion Director and fabulous guest judge on Project Runway. He educates us on the hottest trends of the season and the directional looks of seaons to come from fashion shows in Paris, Milan, NYC. He empowers us to deliver all the inside fashion tidbits to our clients. I also assist other associates in fitting room events that create an exceptional shopping experience that epitomizes Neiman Marcus customer service. Lastly, I also pull model looks for many of our exciting events.

Would have loved to have been at Alexander McQueen where Kate Moss was a holographic projection. Now, it would be Tom Ford.

Weatlhy and retired. Or a fashion journalist.

  1. Crisp white blouse.
  2. Floor length black evening skirt
  3. Perfectly tailored navy suit
  4. Short black trench coat
  5. Fabulous red dress
  6. Nude stilletto pumps
  7. Neutral leather jacket
  8. Tuxedo blazer
  9. Waterproof mascara
  10. Signature fragrance

Seeing a client go from "Oh no, I can never do that!" to, "OMG, I love it!"

  1. Friends and Family
  2. Carbs
  3. Kiehl's Argan Dry Oil
  4. White shirt
  5. YSL jeans

"My style philosophy is knowing what is appropriate--be it occasion, budget, or personality--and embracing that propriety with exuberence."

Thank you Dave for being the first to take part of Hogger & Co.'s Style Profile Series!

If you'd like to participate, send me an email!
