Style Profile: Alaina from So Alaina
Sometimes you meet a person at just the perfect time in your life.
For me this person is Alaina, a freelance writer, who recently moved to Boston and contacted me for a fashion and lifestyle shoot for the launch of her new blog So Alaina.
The day before the shoot, we met for tea and hit it off! I couldn't believe we hadn't met before!
Since then, we've been to yoga together and jogged umbrella-less through Back Bay in search of smoothies.
Our stages in life, love for travel and support for the Bruins (a topic of many a conversation) are just a few of the similarities we both share, so without further ado, allow me to introduce you to the beautiful, warm and bubbly Alaina!
i just moved here in december. but my dad has lived here for a decade, and i've been visiting for that long. i used to spend my summers poolside in his old house in melrose.
i started my blog just over 2 years ago to share renovations we were doing on our house at the time.
i push myself. as a writer, you have good days and bad. forcing myself to sit down at my laptop and write something, anything that is worth reading, at least five times a week makes me concentrate and work out those writing muscles. it feels good. even on days when i don't know what to say, i start writing a few words and before you know it, my brain is going faster than my fingers can handle.
i'm actually a pretty good snowboarder. since i've been married, we don't go much since my husband is from LA. but i used to spend all my free time riding in the winter, and especially loved the terrain parks. area 51 at keystone is the best!
italy. the food, the wine, the culture, the scenery, the people. and it has everything - mountains up north, beautiful beaches, bustling cities and quiet sleepy villages. i spent the best 10 days of my life there.
[1] netflix. so addicted to watch now.
[2] italian food, especially spaghetti + meat balls.
[3] wine.
[4] the beach.
[5] airplanes to take me away.
oh, sundays are my favorite day of the week. my favorite sundays are when we go out for brunch, then do something leisurely all day - sowa art walk, the beach, or just putting on our favorite movie. but the best sundays always end with a big family dinner on sunday nights - and, of course, mad men.
always look like yourself. i try to never imitate someone else's look - i may be inspired by others, but i try to interpret that look i like in my own way and put my own spin on it.
