Style Profile: Marissa from The Well Appointed Catwalk

Marissa is one of the first bloggers I met after moving to Boston, when we were invited to Breakfast at Tiffany's.

I immediately found her to be warm and friendly and I remember saying to her that I didn't recognize her from her Twitter profile photo (which at the time, wasn't a pic of her, at all!). We laughed over that, and I thought how cool it was to be meeting THE "Well Appointed Catwalk" IRL (that's "in real life", people!).

And now, here she is, IRL.

If you haven't met her yet, you must!

She's awesome.

All my life. I went to college in upstate New York but came back after graduation.

People like to generalize and say that Boston style is conservative and preppy. I would agree that people appreciate classic looks here, but there's so much more to it. Maybe it's just because I hang around with a bunch of fashion bloggers, but I think Boston style is far more adventurous than people give it credit for.

It sounds cheesy, but the personal connections that I've made have definitely been the best and most unexpected part of blogging. I've met so many creative and talented people since I began three years ago, and I've made some truly wonderfuly friends as well.

Givenchy Couture in Paris, no question.

1. My Kindle

2. A water bottle

3. Fresh Sugar lip balm

4. A cardigan that's big enough to wrap myself in (hotel rooms get cold!)

5. My Macbook Air... because what's a blogger without her laptop?

I studied for a semester on the South Island of New Zealand, and if it weren't for family, I'd move back there in a heatbeat.

In the summer, it's a day on the beach with lobster on the way home. In winter, it's all about lazy mornings and watching football, believe it or not.

I'm a big believer in knowing how to dress for your body. I'm 5 feet tall, so there are plenty of styles that just don't work on me, and I've come to accept that. No matter how much I may love something on the runway, if it's not cut for me, I just have to move on.

Lovely photographs, Smita! I especially like the B&W's. I'm not familiar with Marissa's blog so I'm heading over there right now.

Yes I have heard that Boston's fashion sense is on the conservative side. But I have also heard that this has changed.
